Terms of Use

1. Overview

macro is provided as a meal and nutrition tracking app for personal use. By using macro, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle information — including anonymous product analytics. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Your Responsibility

You are responsible for how you use the app and for keeping your device secure. You are also responsible for reviewing nutrition estimates before relying on them.

3. Purchase Model

Core macro access is available on the free plan (with weekly logging limits), as a one-time lifetime in-app purchase, or as a Cloud, Plus, or Pro auto-renewing subscription. Cloud, Plus, and Pro include extra benefits beyond Lifetime, such as backup and sync. Lifetime does not include those subscription features. You can subscribe without purchasing Lifetime, and Lifetime users can still upgrade to a monthly or annual plan.

4. macro Cloud Subscription

macro Cloud is available as a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription. Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your App Store or Google Play account settings. When a macro Cloud subscription ends, cloud backup and sync stop and you return to macro Limited (or Lifetime if you own it); data already stored locally on your device is kept.

5. Platform Billing

If you purchase macro or subscribe to macro Cloud through the App Store or Google Play, billing, renewals, refunds, and platform purchase policies are handled by that platform under its own terms.

6. Pricing and Affiliate Codes

Prices are set and processed by the App Store or Google Play and are shown in your local currency. Some affiliates may provide App Store offer codes, which are redeemed through the platform redemption flow.

7. Product Analytics

To operate and improve macro, we collect anonymous usage information through PostHog, as described in our Privacy Policy. This may include which features you use, how you log meals (such as logging mode and timing), aggregated calorie and meal-count figures associated with those actions, paywall interactions, and general app performance data. Analytics is not linked to your name, email, or macro Cloud account, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

By continuing to use macro after the effective date of our Privacy Policy, you acknowledge this collection. If you do not agree with these practices, you must stop using the app.

8. Feature Availability

We may change, improve, limit, or discontinue features if needed for security, legal, technical, or product reasons. This includes adjusting which events are measured or how analytics is collected, provided we update our Privacy Policy when practices materially change.

9. Third-Party APIs

macro uses Gemini API for macro estimation from meal photos or meal descriptions, recipe extraction from recipe images or recipe webpage links you choose to import, and Open Food Facts API for barcode processing. These features depend on internet connectivity and third-party services and may be unavailable at times.

Recipe import is for personal nutrition logging. You are responsible for having the right to use any content you import. macro does not grant you a license to republish third-party recipes. Nutrition values from imports may be estimated and are not medical advice.

10. Medical and Technical Disclaimer

macro does not offer coaching. You should verify important nutrition decisions with your own judgment and, when appropriate, a licensed professional.

11. Limitation of Liability

macro is provided "as is" without guarantees of uninterrupted availability, compatibility with every device configuration, or fitness for a particular health outcome. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developers of macro are not responsible for any health complications, dietary issues, adverse reactions, or medical conditions that may arise from your use of the app or from how affiliates, partners, or others describe or promote it.

12. Changes to Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the revised Terms on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes to how we collect or use information will be reflected in our Privacy Policy. Continued use of macro after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
